Description

3M™ VHB™ 5925 tape is a high-performance double-sided acrylic foam tape with a thickness of 0.025 inches (0.6 millimeters), featuring a modified acrylic adhesive that offers excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, including metals, glass, plastics, and coated materials. The characteristics of this tape include:

  • Permanent Bonding: Easy to use, with high strength and long-term durability.
  • Invisible Fixing: An almost hidden method of fastening that keeps surfaces smooth.
  • Alternative to Mechanical Fasteners: Can replace traditional fastening methods such as riveting, welding, and screws.
  • Waterproof Sealing: Forms a permanent waterproof and moisture-proof sealing structure.
  • High Initial Adhesion: The pressure-sensitive adhesive system ensures rapid achievement of operational strength.
  • Recommended applications include decorative materials and interiors, nameplates and logos, electronic displays, and panel frame bonding.

If you need more detailed technical data or product information, you can visit the official 3M website or refer to the relevant technical data sheets.https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/2366505O/3m-vhb-tape-5925.pdf?&fn=3M-VHB-Tape-5925_R2.pdf

When using 3M™ VHB™ 5925 tape, here are some important considerations:

  1. Substrate Cleaning: Most substrates should be cleaned with a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water before applying 3M™ VHB™ tape. For heavy oils or greases, a degreaser or solvent may be required before cleaning with IPA/water.
  2. Surface Preparation: For some special materials, such as glass, copper-containing metals, and plastics or rubbers containing migrating components, special surface treatments may be necessary. For porous and fibrous materials, such as wood, particleboard, concrete, etc., sealing is required to provide a uniform surface.
  3. Pressure: The bond strength depends on the contact area between the adhesive and the surface. Typically, applying sufficient pressure to ensure the tape experiences about 15 psi (100 kPa) is needed for good surface contact. For rigid surfaces, greater pressure may be required.
  4. Temperature: The ideal application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). For the 3M™ VHB™ 5952 series tape, the recommended minimum usage temperature is 50°F (10°C). Initial tape adhesion below the recommended minimum temperature is not recommended as the adhesive becomes too hard and less adhesive.
  5. Time: After bonding, the bond strength increases as the adhesive flows to the surface (also known as “wetting”). At room temperature, about 20 minutes is needed to achieve about 50% of the final bond strength, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours. This process is faster at higher temperatures and slower at lower temperatures.
  6. Thermal Expansion/Contraction: VHB™ tape can perform well in applications where the two bonded surfaces may expand and contract to different extents. Generally, differential movement up to three times its thickness in the shear plane can be tolerated.
  7. Flexibility: VHB™ tape bonding is usually more flexible than other bonding methods. If additional rigidity is needed, appropriate design modifications or staged use of rigid fasteners or adhesives may be required.
  8. Performance in Extreme Cold Environments: In extreme cold environments, users should fully assess whether the tape product can withstand high impact stress.
  9. Storage and Shelf Life: The shelf life of all 3M™ VHB™ tapes is 24 months from the date of manufacture, stored at 40°F to 100°F (4°C to 38°C) and 0-95% relative humidity.
  10. Safety Data Sheet (SDS): Before use, one should consult the relevant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for information on safe use and handling.

Following these considerations ensures the proper use and optimal performance of 3M™ VHB™ 5925 tape.

Size can be customized, Just provide CAD/DXF/DWG file.

Advantage:

Energy Absorption: Stress and energy are absorbed by the foam, suitable for long-term vibration working environment.

Superior durability: All-acrylic construction provides superior durability.

Superior sealing: Closed-cell acrylic chemistry proven in extreme environments.

Neat appearance: no dents or solder joints with adhesive tape.

Convenient assembly: After bonding, you can freely choose whether to proceed to the next process, greatly. improving the speed and flexibility of assembly.

Typical Applications: Exterior vehicle decoration, nameplates.
